Scatophagus argus(Spotted Scat)

A deep-bodied fish patterned with numerous dark spots. Juvneiles are usually more brightly coloured than the adults, having proportionately fewer spots against a more metallic and shiny base colour. Red or green markings on the dorsal surface and dorsal fin may be seen in some juveniles, but these tend to fade on adults.


Fish information (behaviour and breeding):

A peaceful, though robust, schooling fish. Makes a good companion for monos, shark catfish, and brackish water archerfish. Not bred in captivity.
