Chrysichthys ornatus(Ornate Congo Catfish)

A fairly large predatory catfish with a mottled golden body when young, darkening to mottled golden brown when mature. There are no known differences between the sexes.

Fish information (behaviour and breeding):

A sluggish, nocturnal species with an extremely large gape! Easily able to swallow prey up to half its own side. Tankmates should be chosen with care, with preference given to species that are either deep bodied (like silver dollars) or too heavily armoured (like plecs) to be viewed as prey. Not difficult to feed, though meaty foods such as earthworms are particularly enjoyed. Apart from their predatory instincts, these fish are peaceful, and may be kept in groups should there be sufficient space.
