Haludaria fasciata(Ember Barb, Melon Barb, Banded Barb Puntius fasciatus)

A fairly large, active barb that is best kept in a spacious tank with similar sized species. Makes a superb dither fish for large but peaceful cichlids, catfish, and gouramis.

Fish information (behaviour and breeding):

Despite its size, this fish is timid and cannot be kept with aggressive fish or in overcrowded conditions. Must be kept in a school of at least six specimens.

Rarely bred in captivity with no established breeding protocol established. An egg scatterer, and probably requires good feeding and soft, acidic water conditions.

Family Group: Barbs
Distribution South East Asia
Temperature 22-25C
Size 15 cm
Water Parameters Soft, acidic water preferred, but adaptable.
Water PH 6.5-7.5
